Artificial Atmosphere is an AI filmmaking and installation project that treats model errors—spatial misreadings, unstable textures, and exaggerated weather—as a visual language. Across LA RAIN and FOG, I directed the transformation of source footage through prompt and model studies, then shaped the results through editing, motion, and atmospheric escalation. Extending the films into prints, DVDs, VR, CRT displays, and exhibition space allowed me to build one visual world across moving image, graphic objects, and installation.

ARTIFICIAL ATMOSPHERE: LA RAIN transforms real footage through generative AI, using rain as both a meteorological and emotional layer. The film observes how algorithmic exaggeration of light, haze, and texture dissolves everyday spaces into unstable cinematic environments.

These visual studies document the generative process behind LA RAIN, analyzing how source footage mutates across different AI models, text prompts, and simulated atmospheric conditions.

ARTIFICIAL ATMOSPHERE: FOG continues this weather-based worldbuilding, utilizing generative AI’s structural misreadings of space and logic as part of the film’s visual language. Through fog, these algorithmic distortions become a medium to explore spatial uncertainty and dreamlike perception.

The DVD objects re-materialize LA RAIN and FOG as physical artifacts, extending the AI-generated videos beyond the screen. Through format, surface, and display, these prints explore how physical design can amplify the atmosphere of algorithmic image-making.
